AFCO Distribution & Milling is a division of Skagit Farmers Supply, a diversified agricultural supply cooperative. Skagit Farmers Supply, based in Burlington, WA, has been in business since 1934, and continues to grow and adapt to meet the needs of the farmers, homeowners, businesses, families, and communities in the Pacific Northwest. The company operates Agronomy, Propane, Refined Fuels and Wholesale divisions as well as ten retail Country Store locations in Washington & Montana. AFCO serves over 800 retail customers. The company distributes products such as animal feed, wildlife products, pet food and supplies, fencing and livestock equipment. Customers receive weekly orders within routed territories. Delivery is provided by AFCO’s fleet of company trucks.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Coordinate facilities maintenance, new construction, equipment installations, and property upkeep, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
• Work with millwrights and operators to complete maintenance and construction projects efficiently.
• Perform welding using various processes and ensure structural integrity of repairs.
• Inspect, repair, and maintain a wide array of mill equipment, following OEM guidelines and best practices.
• Develop, document, and implement maintenance schedules to optimize equipment performance.
• Conduct safety inspections, maintain documentation, and ensure compliance with OSHA, federal, and
state regulations, including proper lockout/tagout procedures.
• Assist in project planning and budgeting, ensuring efficient use of resources such as labor, materials, and equipment.
• Oversee construction activities to ensure alignment with specifications and timelines.
• Manage procurement and organization of tools, equipment, and major purchases.
• Maintain a safe, clean working environment and enforce safety protocols.
• Communicate with staff and management to prioritize tasks and accomplish goals effectively.
• Exhibit an ability to receive feedback, adapt to new processes and continuously develop skills.
• Demonstrate the ability to collaborate, communicate well and effectively relay information with an emphasis on developing positive professional relationships.
• Practice punctual and reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of millwright experience.
• Possess a valid driver license with safe driving history.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen as a condition of employment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Proficient with hand and power tools.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds frequently.
• Must be able to bend, squat, kneel, and climb ladders.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
• Proven track record of being safe, dependable and reliable.
• Demonstrate basic computer skills, including navigating websites and receiving/sending emails.
• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrate strong organizational, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience safely operating a forklift, lift trucks, hand trucks, dollies and other loading and moving
equipment used in warehouse operations.
SCHEDULE
This is a full time, 40 hours per week position. The mill operates on 4, 10-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday.
Must be available to work evenings and/or weekends as needed.
