Warehouse Supervisor

Spokane Valley, WA

 AFCO Distribution & Milling is a division of Skagit Farmers Supply, a diversified agricultural supply cooperative. Skagit Farmers Supply was founded in Burlington, WA in 1934 and has grown into four core business divisions: agronomy, retail, energy, and wholesale distribution & milling. Our commitment is to provide quality products and services to our customers and community partners. 

AFCO serves over 800 retailers in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, and Alaska. The company distributes over 7,000 products including animal feed, wildlife products, pet food and supplies, fencing and livestock equipment. Customers receive weekly orders within our routed territories. Delivery is provided by our fleet of company trucks from the company’s distribution center warehouses. 

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Oversee the daily operations of the warehouse during overlapping day and swing shifts. 

• Work in receiving, inventory and order picking as needed 

• Supervise the day-to-day workflow of warehouse staff, ensuring efficient operations across warehouse functions. 

• Motivate, train, and develop warehouse personnel, providing constructive feedback. 

• Work with management to conduct annual performance reviews and resolve personnel issues as they may arise. 

• Ensure compliance with food safety standards and maintain a clean, safe working environment. 

• Identify opportunities for operational improvements and set goals. 

• Collaborate with shift leads and management to plan, direct, and coordinate warehouse programs and projects. 

• Assist in planning drivers’ routes and coordinating transfers from the warehouse to delivery destinations. 

• Maintain accurate documentation and recordkeeping related to warehouse operations. 

• Monitor the physical condition of the warehouse facilities and equipment, recommending repairs and improvements as needed. 

• Safely operate forklifts, hand trucks, and pallet jacks, ensuring all staff are properly trained in equipment use. 

• Stay informed on industry best practices, trends, regulations, and innovations relevant to warehouse operations. 

• Promote and enforce safe work habits and practices 

• Exhibit an ability to get along with others. 

• Practice punctual and reliable attendance. 

• Perform other duties as assigned. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS 

• High school diploma or equivalent. 

• 3+ years’ experience in warehouse operations, shipping & receiving and/or logistics management. 

• Possess a valid driver license and safe driving history. 

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older. 

• Must pass pre-employment drug screen. 

• Strong organizational, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and analytical skills 

• Demonstrate a commitment to excellence and high standards especially in terms of providing outstanding service. 

• Physical ability to stand for extended periods; bend, stoop and kneel frequently. 

• Physical ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 60 pounds. 

• Professional appearance and demeanor. 

• Proven track record of being dependable and reliable. 

• Be proficient with Windows-based computer software, including (but not limited to) Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams and Outlook. 

• Be a self-starter with highly developed ability to direct the efforts of self and others. 

• Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with co-workers and customers. 

• Have a proven history of dependable and reliable employment. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

• College degree in business, management, logistics or a related field preferred. 

• Exhibit a high level of product knowledge in one or more of the following areas: feed, seed, pet food & supplies, hardware, fencing, animal health, tack, clothing & footwear, lawn & garden or wild bird supplies. 

SCHEDULE 

This is a full time, 40 hours per week position, typically Monday – Friday. Qualified applicants must be available to work evenings and/or weekends as needed. 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS 

$27.00 – $32.00/hour. After meeting eligibility requirements, benefits include:
