AFCO Distribution & Milling is a division of Skagit Farmers Supply, a diversified agricultural supply cooperative. Skagit Farmers Supply, based in Burlington, WA, has been in business since 1934, and continues to grow and adapt to meet the needs of the farmers, homeowners, businesses, families, and communities in the Pacific Northwest. The company operates Agronomy, Propane, Refined Fuels and Wholesale divisions as well as ten retail Country Store locations in Washington & Montana. AFCO serves over 800 retail customers. The company distributes products such as animal feed, wildlife products, pet food and supplies, fencing and livestock equipment. Customers receive weekly orders within routed territories. Delivery is provided by AFCO’s fleet of company trucks.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage daily warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, inventory control, shrink, food safety, maintenance, and facility standards.
• Lead, hire, train, schedule, and develop warehouse employees; coordinate daily workflow and support employee performance and retention.
• Coordinate inventory transfers from the warehouse to delivery destinations.
• Provide management oversight and final accountability for accurate shipping and receiving, documentation, staffing, budgeting, and operational transactions.
• Analyze financial and inventory reports and manage controllable costs to support profitability and operational efficiency.
• Ensure proper documentation and recordkeeping in accordance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and food safety standards.
• Monitor the condition of facilities and equipment; maintain a clean, safe, and productive environment and recommend repairs or improvements.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce errors, minimize losses, and control excess costs.
• Maintain and promote safe work habits.
• Exhibit an ability to receive feedback, adapt to new processes and continuously develop skills.
• Demonstrate the ability to collaborate, communicate well and effectively relay information with an emphasis on developing positive professional relationships.
• Practice punctual and reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• College degree in business or equivalent of five years related experience.
• Understanding of warehouse management systems; RF processes.
• Understanding of cross dock processes, consolidation, and Bill of Lading accuracy.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrate strong organizational, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods; bend and stoop frequently.
• Physical ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 60 pounds.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Proven track record of being dependable and reliable.
• Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Warehouse and/or retail experience with shipping/receiving knowledge.
• Prior commercial driving experience with a DOT-regulated employer.
• Product knowledge in feed, seed, or pet food & supplies.
• Experience with forklifts, reach trucks and pallet jacks.
• Possess a valid driver license and safe driving history
• Demonstrate proficiency using Windows-based computer software, including (but not limited to) Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
SCHEDULE
This is a full time, 40 hours per week position. Shifts will generally be scheduled between 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Specific shift times may vary. Qualified applicants must be available to work evenings and/or weekends as needed.
